A Love for Sarees, Woven into a Journey
Seragu began in 2024, born from a lifelong love for sarees and a deep connection to the memories they hold.
The journey began much earlier — with childhood memories of growing up in the 1980s, surrounded by women who wore sarees every day. Sarees were an inseparable part of those years — colourful, graceful, flowy and comforting. They were part of everyday life, celebrations, family moments, and countless memories.
Meeting the artisans behind these exquisite creations has been one of the most cherished parts of our journey. Their skill, patience, and passion inspire us to celebrate the saree not merely as a garment, but as a living expression of Indian heritage and identity.
That love for sarees eventually became a dream: to create something that celebrates the beauty, emotion, and timelessness of this wonderful garment.
In 2024, that dream took shape as Seragu, together with Mrs. Jamuna Muruli and her friend and co-founder Mrs. Veena Karthik.
Why “Seragu”
As a Kannadati, Mrs. Jamuna wanted the name to come from something close to her heart — something rooted in the language, culture, and memories she grew up with.
“Seragu” is the Kannada word for the pallu of a saree — the part that naturally catches the eye and often becomes the most distinctive expression of the saree’s design.
But to us, Seragu means more than just a part of a saree. It evokes childhood memories, emotions, tradition, grace and identity.
